Goodbye 2020

Image
Hang in there, this is likely going to be a long post because there is a lot of catching up to do. Please do hang in there, because I am looking for advice. So, my birthday. Oh my gosh was it fabulous. So yeah, that week Stevei was here and that was fun. 5 kiddos under the age of 8 running around the house. Oh did we all have fun. I'm being serious, not snarky and sarcastic. Those kids get along great and pretty much take care of themselves when they are together. The only reason Stevei and I had to be there was to make sure they ate once in a while and didn't die. On my birthday I went to dinner with some good friends, because at that time there was still this thing called indoor dining. It's where you go out to a building and sit down, there are menus where they let you choose what you want to eat and then they bring it to you. Yup snarkiness back. Down with Newsom. So, fabulous dinner with 2 of my girls. Felt very loved on my birthday. My most treasured gift for my birth...

I feel good

If you've been reading my blogs, it's no secret that I have been soooo angry. I'm angry about a lot of things. I think I have finally pulled out of it, I am finally genuinely happy. I thought cutting alcohol out of my life would fix the anger. I still don't drink alcohol.  So a mixture of things have happened, Sunday at church our pastor was talking about not minimizing your problems. I am guilty of that... I have my issues, but then I hear stuff about other people I know and I minimize my problem... Like, oh I'm angry but this person is dealing with cancer, so I have no reason to be angry. He also talked about identifying your problem, and accepting it. I have really been struggling with some relationships in my life that are well... crappy. I can't fix those relationships, so at this point I can finally accept, this is the way that relationship is... It just is what it is.  So that's one thing. Another thing, this week my girl Stevei is here visiting. Her ...

October

Image
A lot has happened in October. My parents moved to Lincoln, which is only 15 minutes away. We have already gotten back to having our weekly dinners. It's fantastic having my parents close by again. They love their little neigborhood. Their house is in a cul-de-sac, within the first 2 days just about all their neighbors came over and introduced themselves. Their next door neighbor baked them some bread. Just wow! It's so neat that there are still neigborhoods that work like that.  October is kind of a blur. Actually, 2020 is kind of a blur. I spent a good chunk of October angry. Really angry. I try to limit how often I go to the market, when I am at the market I try to get in and out as fast as I can. Then, I have a hard time breathing because I've been nearly jogging the market. I HATE WEARING A MASK!  Our family made the decision together that the kids would stick with online learning for the full school year. Our school went back to teaching on campus November 4. So, t...

My AMAZING kids

Image
So, I just was thinking about it's been a bit of a rough week, I started the week with a UTI and I started my period. So blah... I was outside checking the pool and the sky is all yucky because of the wildfires. I'm bummed, the weather is cooling off but I'm not going outside much because the air quality sucks. I started thinking about school stuff and thinking about how the school is doing a kindness week. I was thinking about chalking, but with the air quality that doesn't work... Then I think about how great my kids are.    I have been told I have great kids, and not to sound full of myself... but I know. I know I have great kids, but this week they have been even more amazing.     I will start with Tuesday...  Both kids have PE on Tuesday, they have a Zoom meeting with their PE teacher and then they have their assignment for PE. Claire runs up to me and tells me, "Mommy, did you hear, it's awful Mr. PE teacher is sick." Then she proceeds...

My favorite season

Image
It's my favorite season! Not because of pumpkin flavored this and pumpkin flavored that... To be honest, I can totally do without all the pumpkin flavored nonsense. I love Halloween! I have every intenton of dressing up and taking my kids trick or treating on Halloween this year. Yesterday Steve and I took the kids to Bishop's Pumpkin Farm. It was so crowded, but we had a blast. The kids went on the carousel, Evan did the zipline, we did the corn maze and got our pumpkins. It was so nice keep a tradition. It was nice to do something normal. The pumpkin farm is all outside so we were able to enjoy a mask free day. I'm sure there are people who will criticize, so if you live in the area and don't feel comfortable with everyone walking around without a mask, skip Bishop's Pumpkin Farm this year.  After Bishop's we came home and BBQd burgers and watched Halloweentown together.  It was a pretty decent week. It's hard to type out, "Hey, it was a great week!...

My mental health

No more Facebook. I do find myself missing it sometimes, but really when I went on Facebook I got sucked into all that drama. Especially with all the moms complaining about school and planning protests. It was a way to be nosey and up in everyone's business. Which was easy because people post their private business on the internet. I mean, that is what a blog is for, right? Anyway, I do find myself in a better mood without Facebook.  I don't know who is reading this, I love when you guys leave any comments. So, for the most part I am doing good. I have my ups and downs for sure. There are some days that I wake up and I'm like, "Today is going to be a great day!" Then there are days that I wake up and want to stay in bed all day. I miss my kid being able to go to school and hang out with their friends, hug their teacher, and play like kids are supposed to play. So, our school district is giving us parents the choice... We can send our kids to school with limitatio...

Rafting Trip

Image
It all started when my sister in law Sara told me she was headed up this way to visit with her daughter Savannah and they were thinking of going rafting. I naturally invited myself and Steve and the kids. So I started looking around for a rafting trip that I would be able to bring Claire. I found the perfect trip for us through Raft California. I booked a trip for the 6 of us. Steve's mom heard we were going and wanted to come along so we added her, then Savannah's roomate Iris wanted to come too so we were now a group of 8.          We met our tour guide at a hotel in Auburn. We piled onto the shuttle bus and headed to the American River. We were rafting the Lower Middle Fork American River. It was a blast!!! There was another group on the shuttle bus with us. A group of 3, two adults and a child... I'm guessing he was around 6 years old. Anyway, the ride down to the river felt forever long, we had to wear our face masks and the air d...
